The first event in the Maple Leaf Junior Golf Tour’s 12-and-under Manitoba Mini Tour schedule took place on Saturday on at Kildonan Park Golf Course in Winnipeg, with a Westman golfer leading the way.

In the boys 9-10 division, Connor Hanska, 10, of Birdtail Sioux Dakota Nation, carded a one-over-par 70 with three birdies and an eagle on a windy day to earn the victory.

Hanska’s round was good enough to qualify him for the FCG World Championship and MJT Mini Tour National Championship, and shortlist him for the Uswing Mojing Jr. World Golf Championship.

The other Westman golfer to place was eight-year-old Makayla McLeod of Brandon, who was second in the girls 9-10 division with a round of 111.
