60 YEARS AGO Jim MacDonald led ANAF Vets to an 8-5 romp over Starks in the West End “A” League. MacDonald chalked up the mound decision and was the big gun at the plate with a single, double and an out-of-the-park home run.

50 YEARS AGO — Two-goal performances by George Panagiotou and Dave Knock led Wolves to a 6-1 victory over the Gators in a Brandon Senior Soccer league match. Marty Kulchyski and Dave Burgess scored the other Wolves’ goals.

40 YEARS AGO — Brandon Barbarians chalked up their third consecutive Manitoba Rugby Union victory by dumping North Side United of Winnipeg 25-6 in second division action. Guy McKim, Barry Connor, Pat Mosiuk and Donny Cooper scored tries for the Barbarians, who remain undefeated in league play.

20 YEARS AGO Brendynn Tuttosi and Paul Grosskopf scored tries to power the Souris Sabres to a 22-0 win over the Dauphin Clippers for the Westman High School Rugby boys’ title.
