• 60 YEARS AGO — Jim MacDonald led ANAF Vets to an 8-5 romp over Starks in the West End “A” League. MacDonald chalked up the mound decision and was the big gun at the plate with a single, double and an out-of-the-park home run.
• 50 YEARS AGO — Two-goal performances by George Panagiotou and Dave Knock led Wolves to a 6-1 victory over the Gators in a Brandon Senior Soccer league match. Marty Kulchyski and Dave Burgess scored the other Wolves’ goals.
• 40 YEARS AGO — Brandon Barbarians chalked up their third consecutive Manitoba Rugby Union victory by dumping North Side United of Winnipeg 25-6 in second division action. Guy McKim, Barry Connor, Pat Mosiuk and Donny Cooper scored tries for the Barbarians, who remain undefeated in league play.
• 20 YEARS AGO — Brendynn Tuttosi and Paul Grosskopf scored tries to power the Souris Sabres to a 22-0 win over the Dauphin Clippers for the Westman High School Rugby boys’ title.
