• 40 YEARS AGO — Scott Gurr delivered for Domino’s in the Brandon Merchants Fastball League. Gurr clubbed two home runs in a 17-8 triumph over Brandon Avenue Electric.
• 30 YEARS AGO — On the strength of Guenther Roth’s two goals, the Titans defeated the Neepawa Rangers 4-1 in Brandon Senior Men’s Soccer League action. John Sowles and Jodi Luckins had the other two goals for the Titans.
• 20 YEARS AGO — The Brandon United Pizza Express Sirens protected their home field advantage with a 2-0 win over South End United in Winnipeg under-14 girls soccer action at Optimist Park. Carli Rey scored a first-half goal for the Sirens and Madison Lyall tallied in the second. Breanne Thompson recorded the shutout for the Sirens, who are in Winnipeg today playing Northern Lights.
• 10 YEARS AGO — Derek McGregor hit a two-run homer and Dale Seafoot and Curtis Plett added solo shots as the Wawanesa Brewers beat the visiting Deloraine Royals 7-1 in the South West Baseball League. Plett earned the victory on the mound for the Brewers (3-1), giving up five hits and striking out nine in six innings.
