• 60 YEARS AGO — The city of Brandon team 10-pin bowling championship four-game roll-off was won by Inland Radiator with 3,798 pins. Team members are: Flo Bieber, Marg Cleaver, Lotte Gaiser, Marlene Trelka and Lil Kramble.
• 50 YEARS AGO — Doug Brown scored three goals and the Olympians defeated Spartans 7-0 in a Brandon Senior Soccer League game. Ron Young registered the shutout.
• 40 YEARS AGO — Mike Corrigan scored twice as Brandon Club United beat the Brandon University Bobcats 4-0 in a Brandon Senior Men’s Soccer league game.
• 30 YEARS AGO — Guild Insurance scored early and often en route to a 9-3 victory over Dairy Queen in the Brandon Midget Baseball League final. Starter Ian Chester was largely responsible for silencing the Dairy Queen bats. He surrendered three runs on five hits in five innings of action. Ryan Andrews pitched two innings of scoreless relief, striking out four of the seven batters he faced.
• 20 YEARS AGO — Brandon’s Kaitlin Troop is a whopping nine strokes clear of the field after the first round of the provincial junior women’s golf championship. Troop, bidding to become the first golfer to win the event three years in a row, shot an impressive one-under-par 72 Wednesday at the Breezy Bend Country Club in Headingley.
• 10 YEARS AGO — Lara Denbow scored a pair of goals to lead the Town Centre Dental Westman FC under-13 girls to a 3-1 Winnipeg Youth Soccer Association win over South End United.
