50 YEARS AGOMaggie Teetaert pitched a four-hitter and Janice Baker hit a triple, double and single as Curly MacKay’s whipped Molsons 17-9 in Brandon and District Ladies’ Fastball League play.

40 YEARS AGO — After less than a season at the helm of the Brandon Wheat Kings, coach Gord Lane accepted a coaching position in the New York Islanders’ farm system.

30 YEARS AGO Frank Sioux pitched a two-hitter to lead the Sioux Valley Dakotas to a 6-1 triumph over the Shilo Stags in a Brandon Commercial Fastball League game. Rod Tacan knocked in two runs with three singles for the Dakotas, while Chad Roscelli added a solo homer. Paul Parsons, with a triple, and Danny Hamilton had the only Shilo hits.

20 YEARS AGO Kaitlin Troop of Clear Lake started the final round of the Manitoba Junior Women’s Golf Championship at Breezy Bend Country Club with a 14-stroke lead, and with a 1-over-par round of 74 took her record third straight title by a whopping 29 shots, finishing at 4 over par for the tournament. Troop is the first junior girls golfer in history to win three straight Manitoba championships.

10 YEARS AGOTrinity Aberhart scored the only goal as the Town Centre Dental Westman FC 13-and-under girls’ soccer team handed Winnipeg Phoenix FC their first loss of the Winnipeg Youth Soccer League season, 1-0, in Portage la Prairie. Kenzie Albert stood tall in the Westman FC net to record the shutout.
