The Brandon Barbarians earned a victory and a tie in senior men and women’s rugby action on Saturday at John Reilly Field.

In the men’s game, the short-staffed Wasps had to borrow players from the Barbarians, with the hosts earning a 52-12 victory in the seeding round of the schedule.

Adam Kowalczuk had a pair of tries, with singles coming from Bradley Goertzen, Josh Koop, Tyler Colquhoun, Richard Pierreroy, Aiden Vida, Zach Malowsky and Tyler Rowan. Miguel Dominguez kicked five converts. (The referee’s score and the scoresheet didn’t match.)

In the women’s game, Brianne Zemliak had three tries and two converts, and Alissa Janz and Ocean Komishin Glass also touched the ball down in a 29-29 tie.
