An early thunderstorm pushed the start times back an hour but all the games were played at the under-11 AA and U13 AA provincial championships at Ashley Neufeld Softball Complex on Friday.
UNDER-11
In Pool A, the Westman Storm (1-0) beat the Westman Power (0-2) 8-4.
In their other games, the Power fell 7-6 to the Winnipeg Bolts-Blue. The Storm play twice today.
In Pool B, the Westman Fury (1-0) earned a wild 14-13 victory over Central Charge-Purple in their sole matchup on Friday.
In Pool C, the Westman Heat (2-0) beat the Interlake Maroons 12-6 and the Southwest Strikers 10-2.
The Westman Storm teams are from south of the Trans-Canada Highway and the Westman Fury are from north of the Trans-Canada, while the Westman Heat and Westman Power are from Brandon.
UNDER-13
The four Westman teams were unbeaten in the older division on Friday.
In Pool A, the Westman Storm (2-0) beat the Southwest Strikers 16-5 and the Eastman Blaze-Tureene 15-4 in a pair of dominant victories.
Meanwhile, the Westman Fury (2-0) beat Blaze-Tureene 11-2 and Winnipeg Bolts-Blue 10-5.
In Pool B, Westman Heat (2-0) topped the Manitoba Reapers 7-5 and the Interlake Maroons 10-4.
In Pool C, Westman Power (1-0) beat Winnipeg Bolts-White 10-0.
The round-robin continues today, with the top two teams in each pool plus the next two highest finishers advancing to an eight-team playoff on Sunday. The finals are set for 3 p.m.
