WINNIPEG – Manitoba Hydro says power is knocked out for more than 30,000 customers across southern Manitoba after a storm with heavy winds swept through the region.
The public utility says there are hundreds of separate outages in Winnipeg and more to the west and south.
It says crews are working to restore service and are prioritizing the largest outages first.
Environment Canada says Winnipeg’s Richardson International Airport saw gusts up to 91 kilometres per hour.
It says Brandon was hit by peak winds of 133 kilometres per hour.
The storm also brought heavy rain, but its fast movement meant there was little accumulation.
