REGINA – Saskatchewan’s highest court has dismissed a bail review application from a man charged with second-degree murder in the shooting death of a woman on a rural highway.

Christopher Fahlman submitted the application claiming the court made several errors when he was denied bail last year.

He has been in police custody since his arrest in November in Regina.

Fahlman is charged with second-degree murder and intentionally discharging a firearm while being reckless as to the life or safety of another person.

He was initially charged with manslaughter in the death of 44-year-old Tanya Myers, but the charge was later upgraded.

Myers was shot dead while riding in her friend’s SUV on a highway near Weyburn, southeast of Regina, last September.

RCMP have said that Fahlman and Myers didn’t know each other.

Various elements of the Appeal Court’s decision, released Thursday, are under a publication ban.
