• 60 YEARS AGO —Rivers Comets trounced Elgin Cubs 26-1 in the first game of the South Central Baseball League final series. Jim Madder cracked a three-run home run while Wilf Taylor and Hugh Richards both socked two-run homers.
• 40 YEARS AGO — Shelly Sorensen had four singles as the Killarney Royals pounded the Boissevain Lady Cardinals 26-10 in Brandon and District Ladies’ Fastball League action.
• 30 YEARS AGO — Brandonites Jarret Woodmass and Steve McKim finished fourth and fifth in the boys’ II division at the western Canadian water ski championships in Portage.
• 20 YEARS AGO — Tim Creek scored two goals to lead the Royal Oak Royals to a 5-1 victory over the Minnedosa Triumph in a Brandon Senior Soccer League game. Brenden Volkmar, Jordan Morris and Patrick Foster also scored for the Royals, while Nolan Brackenreed replied for the Triumph.
• 10 YEARS AGO — Erickson’s Bobbi Uhl shot a 12-over 84 in the second round of the Canadian junior girls’ golf championship to sit tied for 71st through 36 holes at The Links at Penn Hills in Nova Scotia.
