60 YEARS AGO Don Germscheid, who golfs out of the Sunnyside club in Brandon, chalked up another win as he nabbed top honours at the Souris Golf Club’s annual fall tournament with a 69.

50 YEARS AGOChris Judd was the big man at the plate for Manco Clippers as they beat out Shilo 11-6 in a Brandon Centennial Fastball game. Judd hit an inside-the-park homer and three singles.

40 YEARS AGO — The Birtle Blue Jays beat out Angusville Cardinals 4-2 in the opening game of the best-of-three Yellowhead Baseball League final. Rob Kollesavich scattered eight hits for the win.

30 YEARS AGO — The Brandon Grey Owls finally ended a 10-game losing streak, beating Moose Jaw 4-3. Chad Cooley was the hero after belting a two-run homer in the bottom of the eighth inning.

20 YEARS AGO Dale Coulter closed with a one-over-par 73 on Sunday to cruise to a seven-stroke victory in the men’s division of the Sandhills Desert Classic at the Carberry Sandhills golf club.

10 YEARS AGO — Brandon gymnast Isabela Onyshko made her Olympic debut in Rio de Janeiro, qualifying for the all-around final.
