Domestic violence
A Brandon man has been charged with two counts of assault after police say he got into a physical altercation with a woman and their infant.
Officers were called to an address on Westaway Bay on Wednesday at 8:15 a.m. for a report of a disturbance inside a home, police said in a news release on Thursday.

Police said the man and woman were in a relationship with each other and got into a fight. The woman and the one-year-old child suffered minor injuries.
A 20-year-old man has been arrested and charged, police said. He was released on an undertaking and is scheduled to appear in court at a later date.
Hammer assault
A woman sustained minor injuries after she was struck with a hammer in Brandon on Wednesday.
Officers were called to a residence on the 100 block on First Street at 2:45 p.m. for a report of a man assaulting his partner with a hammer, police said Thursday.
A 36-year-old man was arrested nearby after police say he was attempting to discard the hammer. He was charged with assault with a weapon and was released on an undertaking once sober.
Refused to provide breath sample
Brandon police have arrested a 22-year-old man, alleging he was driving while impaired and refused to provide a breath sample.
Police responded to a report of an intoxicated man who had caused a disturbance at a residence on the 200 block of 16th Street East, then left his vehicle around 1 a.m. on Thursday.
Officers saw the man driving and pulled him over. The driver showed signs of impairment and declined to provide a breath sample, police said.
The man was charged with impaired driving and refusing to provide breath sample. He was held in custody once sober and was released on a notice to appear in court.
Stolen vehicle
Brandon police are asking the public to watch for a vehicle that was reported stolen.
On Wednesday, police received a report about a stolen brown 2005 Chevrolet Equinox that had gone missing the previous night in the first block of 26th Street, police said Thursday.
The vehicle’s licence plate number is HUG 729. Anyone who sees this vehicle is asked to contact police.
