Crawling woman

A 28-year-old woman was detained at the Brandon police station after she was found crawling across a street downtown.

Officers came across the woman on Monday before 10 p.m. in the 800 block of Rosser Avenue, police said in a news release on Tuesday.

The woman was taken into custody under the Protective Detention and Care of Intoxicated Persons Act and was released once she was sober and able to care for herself, police said.

Vehicle recovered

Brandon police have recovered a vehicle that was reported stolen on Monday.

The 2017 Ford vehicle was stolen from a gas station in Brandon and was later found by Neepawa RCMP, police said on Tuesday.

The vehicle’s registered owner has been notified and police continue to investigate.

Hospital disturbance

A 40-year-old man was allegedly found in possession of a knife at the Brandon Regional Health Centre on Sunday, police say.

Brandon police officers were called to the hospital emergency department shortly before 11 p.m. about a man who had been causing a disturbance and was in the custody of hospital security, police said in a news release on Monday.

Police said the man had a court order not to possess any weapons. He was arrested and charged with possession of a weapon and failure to comply with a release order.

He was scheduled to appear in court on Monday.

Domestic assault

A man has been arrested for assaulting his wife on Sunday morning, Brandon police say.

Around 10 a.m., officers were called to a house on the 1700 block of 10th Street for a report of an assault, police said on Monday.

Police arrested a 37-year-old man in connection with the incident.

The man was charged with domestic assault and assault by choking.

He was taken into custody and later released on an undertaking, police said.

The man is scheduled to appear in court on Nov. 2.
