INTIMATE PARTNER VIOLENCE
Brandon police arrested a man on Tuesday afternoon, alleging he was in violation of an order not to contact his partner.
The family of the 35-year-old woman requested police conduct a well-being check on her after she was allegedly assaulted by a man the previous evening and couldn’t be reached, police said in a news release on Wednesday.
Police confirmed a man had been arrested in connection with an assault against the woman and was released earlier that day on a court order.
Police went to the woman’s residence, but no one answered the door, so officers forced their way inside. Police located the man inside the home with the woman, contrary to conditions of his order.
He was arrested and detained until his court appearance on Wednesday morning, police said.
Police said no further information about another assault was provided.
DRUGS AND STOLEN PROPERTY
A 39-year-old man was allegedly caught with drugs and stolen property after a traffic stop on Tuesday evening.
Officers pulled over a truck in the 1800 block of Brandon Avenue after it failed to stop at a red light around 11 p.m., police said Wednesday.
While police spoke with the man, they checked the serial number of a bicycle found in his truck bed and determined it had been reported stolen, so they arrested him.
During the arrest, the man was allegedly found in possession of methamphetamine.
He was charged with possessing methamphetamine for the purpose of drug trafficking and possession of property obtained by crime.
