• 60 YEARS AGO — Martin Clinic won its second straight game in the pony baseball final 11-9 over Legion. Gord Lane hit a home run and two doubles to lead the winners.
• 50 YEARS AGO — Dave Knock and Wayne Culbertson scored two goals each to lead Wolves to a 7-2 soccer victory over Gators in Wally Newton Cup league play.
• 40 YEARS AGO — Callum Scott, Brent Ferguson and Mike Corrigan each had a pair of goals as Brandon Club United blasted Adman Kicks 9-1 in Brandon Senior Soccer League action.
• 30 YEARS AGO — Erich Timm carried the Titans into the A-side final of the Brandon Senior Soccer League’s men’s tournament. Timm scored two goals, including the winner on penalty kicks, to lift the Titans to a 2-1 triumph over Griff’s in an A-side semifinal. Ryan Eamer replied for Griff’s.
• 20 YEARS AGO — Mark Schneider and Kory Kimpinski scored for the Brandon Wheat Kings in a 2-1 triumph over Central Plains Capitals as the Southwest Cougars pre-season AAA midget hockey tournament got underway.
• 10 YEARS AGO — The Tiger Hills Hockey League will remain at 13 teams this season despite gaining a new one. MacGregor officially joined the senior circuit at the league’s annual general meeting, which was held in Glenboro. However, the Glenboro Nordics won’t be back this season, opting to take a one-year leave of absence. Swan Lake extended its leave a second season as well.
