DRUG POSSESSION
A man was arrested on Wednesday morning after police allege he was in possession of methamphetamine and cocaine for the purpose of drug trafficking.
Officers stopped the man who was riding a bike in the 1900 block of Brandon Avenue around 11 a.m., police said in a news release on Thursday. Police said the man was in possession of unstamped tobacco.
When police told the man he was being arrested, he resisted, police said.
Officers took him into custody and found he was in possession of methamphetamine and cocaine.
A 39-year-old man was charged with possession of methamphetamine and cocaine for the purpose of drug trafficking and resisting arrest.
He was scheduled to appear in court on Thursday.
HIDDEN HATCHET
Police have arrested a man after they pulled a vehicle over and found a hatchet underneath the passenger seat, violating his court order not to possess any weapons.
Officers stopped the suspect on Wednesday at 6:25 p.m. in the 200 block of 17th Street, police said on Thursday.
Police noted the suspect, who was in the passenger seat, wasn’t wearing a seatbelt. Police learned the man was bound by a probation order prohibiting him from possessing weapons and located a hatchet in the vehicle.
The man was charged with failing to comply with probation and was later released on a notice to appear in court on Nov. 30.
THREATS TO NEIGHBOUR
A 53-year-old man has been charged with uttering threats after police allege he fought with his neighbour on Wednesday morning.
Police received a report around 7:30 a.m. about a man who had made threats to his neighbour. The suspect was located around 6 p.m. in the 800 block of Rosser Avenue and was arrested.
He was later released on an undertaking and is scheduled to appear in court on Nov. 26.
HUNTED DEER WITH KNIFE
A 26-year-old man faces multiple charges after he allegedly chased a deer with a knife in an August incident, police say.
Brandon police arrested the man on Wednesday after officers receieved a report on Aug. 6 about a broken window at a business on the 300 block of Park Avenue East.
Surveillance footage showed that shortly after 8:30 p.m. on Aug. 3, a man exited a black SUV while holding a large knife and ran after a deer.
The deer ran into the window of the business, causing the glass to shatter, before it fled the area. It appeared uninjured.
Police later identified the man through the footage and arrested him.
He was charged with possession of weapon, mischief to property under $5,000, hunting out of season and hunting with a weapon other than a firearm.
He was released from custody on a notice to appear in court on Nov. 30.
