CHANCELLOR – A fire at a gas plant in southern Alberta that left two people injured has been extinguished.

Canadian Natural Resources spokesperson Julie Woo says there is no safety threat to the public or environment and that all regulatory bodies have been notified.

A spokesperson for STARS air ambulance said a man in his 70s was transported to hospital in critical condition from the plant, located east of Calgary.

The surrounding area was evacuated as a precaution.
