A 28-year-old man in Ebb and Flow First Nation was transported to hospital after he was kidnapped and assaulted with weapons last week, Mounties say.
On Oct. 1, Ste. Rose du Lac RCMP responded to a call about a man who had been assaulted, police said in a news release on Wednesday.
The victim had several cuts to his body and was taken to hospital for medical treatment.
He had been at a residence when a man entered the home and began assaulting him with multiple weapons, police said. The victim was restrained and thrown in the back of a truck.
Mounties said the man was assaulted again before he escaped by jumping out of the moving truck.
RCMP located the suspect driving on Lake Road Southeast in the community and pulled him over.
He was arrested without incident, RCMP said. Police searched the vehicle and found weapons matching the ones used in the assault, the release said.
William Richard, 44, of Sandy Bay First Nation, is facing charges that include assault causing bodily harm, kidnapping without a firearm, forcible confinement and assault with a weapon. He was remanded into custody.
