ARSON THREAT

A 30-year-old man was arrested on Thursday after Brandon police say he threatened to light a downtown building on fire.

Around 11:20 a.m., police received a report of a man who was outside a business on Pacific Avenue stating that he wanted to “burn the building down,” police said in a news release on Friday.

Officers arrived at the scene and located the suspect, who appeared to be intoxicated at the time, police said.

There was no evidence of a fire.

Police took the man into custody and he was held until sober. He was charged with breaching the peace.

CREDIT CARD THEFT

A 39-year-old woman has been charged with using a credit card from a stolen wallet.

The wallet was reported missing on Tuesday with unauthorized transactions totalling $107, police said in a news release on Thursday.

Police reviewed video surveillance that showed a suspect using the credit card.

Police identified the suspect and arrested the woman in the first block of Seventh Street on Wednesday.

The woman was charged with unauthorized use of a credit card and was released on an undertaking with a future court date of Jan. 28.
