Hey there, time traveller!

Manitobans who love the 204 might have to get used to the new dial tone of the 431.
The Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission (CRTC) confirmed today that as of Oct. 20, 2012 Manitobans will be required to use a ten-digit dialing code for local calls.
The CRTC also confirmed that a new area code, 431, will be introduced as of Nov. 3, 2012.
The transition to ten-digit dialing will begin in late July 29, 2012 and phased in over the following weeks.
The introduction of the new 431 area code is to prevent running out of telephone numbers in Manitoba, but existing customers will be able to keep their current area code and number.
The Canadian Numbering Administrator’s notification had reported that Manitoba is expected to run out of telephone numbers in the 204 range by May 2013.
The CRTC’s decision also addresses the neighbouring communities of Creighton, Saskatchewan and Flin Flon, Manitoba. Currently they can make local calls to one another without racking up long distance charges.
But after October 2012, residents of Flin Flon will be required to dial ten digits for all calls, including those to Creighton.
Residents of Creighton, on the other hand, will continue to make calls as per usual since Saskatchewan continues to have seven digit local dialing.
