JASPER, ALBERTA – A highway in Jasper National Park, near Alberta’s boundary with British Columbia, has partially reopened as crews continue to clean up debris from a rock slide.

RCMP says Highway 16, about 12 kilometres west of the Jasper townsite, is open to a single lane with alternating traffic.

Mounties say drivers should avoid unnecessary travel in the area and to expect delays.

The highway closed to traffic in both directions Saturday due to the rock slide.

Mounties say Parks Canada has been leading efforts in clearing the roadway.

Authorities say there have been no reports of vehicles struck or people injured by the slide.
