The province recorded 25 new COVID-related deaths during the weekend alongside 633 new cases.
The age ranges of people who died was between their 40s to 90s and included 20 people in the Winnipeg health region, two in Southern Health-Santé Sud, two in Interlake-Eastern and one in Interlake.
Of the weekend’s new cases, 364 were in Winnipeg, followed by 102 in Northern, 73 in Interlake-Eastern, 50 in Southern Health and 44 in Prairie Mountain Health.
There are now 5,728 active cases in the province, of which 247 are in Prairie Mountain Health.
Within Prairie Mountain Health’s districts, there are 134 active cases in Brandon, followed by 43 in Porcupine Mountain, 19 in Duck Mountain, 12 in Unknown District, 10 in Riding Mountain, nine in Spruce Woods, five in Little Saskatchewan, and four each in Asessippi, Dauphin and Turtle Mountain. It’s unclear where the discrepancy of three cases comes from.
There are 304 people in hospital in Manitoba, of whom 43 are in intensive care. In Prairie Mountain Health, five people are in hospital and one person is in intensive care.
The current five-day test positive rate is 13.5 per cent provincially and 13 per cent in Winnipeg.
As throughout current level red restrictions, chief provincial public health officer Dr. Brent Roussin is reminding Manitobans to only leave their homes for essential purposes.
Further, “When leaving the house to obtain essentials, be sure to physically distance, wear a mask in indoor public places and avoid crowded spaces. Do not leave the home if you are sick, or when any member of your family is sick. Further, do not socialize with anyone from outside your household.”
