The province reported no new deaths today from COVID-19.
The current five-day COVID-19 test positivity rate is 11.8 per cent provincially and 14.2 per cent in Winnipeg. There were 491 new cases of the virus identified. Two cases were removed due to data correction, bringing the net-new number of cases today to 489. Lab-confirmed cases in Manitoba are now 44,189.
The following is a breakdown of COVID-19 cases in the province:
• 41 cases in the Interlake-Eastern health region
• 10 cases in the Northern health region
• 24 cases in the Prairie Mountain Health region
• 88 cases in the Southern Health–Santé Sud health region
• 328 cases in the Winnipeg health region
There are 4,163 active cases and 39,024 individuals who have recovered from COVID-19.
There are 179 people in hospital with active COVID-19 as well as 60 people in hospital with COVID-19 who are no longer infectious but continue to require care, for a total of 239 hospitalizations.
There are 50 people in intensive care units with active COVID-19 and 17 people with COVID-19 who are no longer infectious but continue to require critical care, for a total of 67 intensive care unit patients.
Day services at Community Living disABILITY Services for adults with intellectual impairments and staff who work there, will be suspended for two weeks in Winnipeg in a response to COVID-19. The closure comes into effect May 17 and won’t end until May 28. Some exceptions may be made where the safety of people cannot be managed in residential care or at home during the day, the province said in a release.
Those adults supported at home are being encouraged to use virtual meetings and other technology to stay connected with friends and family.
There were 3,719 laboratory tests completed yesterday, bringing the total number of lab tests completed since early February 2020 to 714,218.
A total of 1,002 people with COVID-19 have died in the province to date.
A new mobile testing site at 1181 Portage Ave. in Winnipeg will open May 17. The site, which will operate seven days a week from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., will offer testing by appointment which can be booked starting May 16 by calling 1-888-986-8152.
