Fifteen more people died from COVID-19, including one death in Prairie Mountain Health, the province reported Wednesday.

A total of 1,478 Manitobans have now died from the virus.

The number of Manitobans in hospital with COVID-19 also rose with 11 more people being admitted.

There are now 631 people receiving care in hospital as a result of the virus and 601 with active infections. A total of 49 patients are in intensive care units with the virus.

There are 430 people in hospital (27 in ICU) in Winnipeg, 59 people in hospital (six in ICU) in Prairie Mountain Health, 61 people in hospital (nine in ICU) in Southern Health, 41 people in hospital (five in ICU) in Interlake-Eastern and 39 people in hospital (three in ICU) in Northern Health, according to the province’s COVID-19 dashboard.

There were 919 new cases of COVID announced Wednesday and 41,708 active cases. The case counts likely do not capture the full picture as only PCR test results are included, which are limited in Manitoba and don’t include rapid antigen test results.

The five-day test positivity rate is 33.1 per cent.

A total of 28 warnings and 27 tickets were issued for the week of Jan. 10-16, according to the province. The tickets include four $1,296 tickets to individuals, 21 $198 tickets for failing to wear a mask in an indoor public place and two $5,000 tickets to businesses.
