ST. JOHN’S, N.L. – The source of a COVID-19 infection announced Sunday in Newfoundland and Labrador is still under investigation by health officials.
In an advisory Monday, officials say they are working to identify potential sources of the transmission, and close contacts will be notified by the department of public health and asked to quarantine.
The case is a woman in the western region of Newfoundland between 20 and 39 years old, and she is self-isolating.
Hers is the first case in several months that was not immediately identified in an advisory as being travel-related or a close contact of an existing case.
Public health officials are advising residents to be patient as the investigation into the source of her infection is completed.
Newfoundland and Labrador has seven active cases of COVID-19, with 297 cases confirmed since the onset of the pandemic.
