TORONTO – Ed Robertson, k.d. lang, Tom Cochrane and Chantal Kreviazuk will be among the music stars celebrating new inductees to the Canadian Songwriters Hall of Fame.

Organizers of the Legends Induction ceremony say lang will induct “Mimi on the Beach” singer-songwriter Jane Siberry while Cochrane will induct rock trio Triumph, for hits including “Lay It On the Line.”

Robertson will induct “Sugar, Sugar” co-creator Andy Kim, and Murray McLauchlan will welcome “Painted Ladies” songwriter Ian Thomas to the class of 2025.

Kevin Drew, JJ Wilde and Rêve are among other performers set for the Oct. 17 ceremony, when “Black Cars” singer-songwriter Gino Vannelli will also be inducted.

The event will also present the Breakthrough Songwriter Award to alt-pop singer Nemahsis, a Palestinian-Canadian arts whose album “Verbathim” was shortlisted for the Polaris Music Prize earlier this year.

The Legends Induction Series is a spinoff of the main Canadian Songwriters Hall of Fame event, which takes place every second year.

Another event for francophone artists Nov. 17 in Montreal will induct film and TV composer François Cousineau, folk duo Kate & Anna McGarrigle, “Lovin’ You Ain’t Easy” writer Michel Pagliaro and Indigenous trailblazer Florent Vollant.

Artifacts and memorabilia honouring the inductees will be on display at the Canadian Songwriters Hall of Fame’s home in Calgary at Studio Bell, National Music Centre.
