For Neelin High School’s Class of 2000, a lot has happened since they graduated a decade ago.

Some have married, welcomed a baby into the world, graduated from university, travelled or stayed close to home.

Former classmates gathered for their 10-year reunion at Neelin over the weekend, and reminisced about their high school days.

"I remember watching ‘Days of our Lives’ in the cafeteria during the lunch hour all the time, and everybody being obsessed with it," said Sharon Enns, with a laugh.

Enns, along with her friend Sheena Ford, organized the reunion together.

"I’d been thinking about it … for a couple years, and I just figured because Sheena and I are still really close, and we’re still both in Brandon we’d be the ones to do it," Enns said.

"For me, it feels like it was just yesterday. I still remember things clear as day, so for me it’s really hard to believe it’s actually been that long."

Enns and Ford both graduated from Brandon University.

Enns now works at Assiniboine Community College, while Ford is a registered nurse at the hospital.

They both agreed it was a fun process to get in touch with their classmates again after all this time.

"We started talking to people that maybe we haven’t talked to in a while, so it’s kind of brought us back together," Ford said.

A barbecue in the courtyard kicked off the reunion, where several former students and teachers gathered.

"It’s nice to be back. I haven’t been here since then," said Amanda Slashinsky.

One of the highlights from high school for Slashinsky was meeting her best friend, Karen Fryklund Yuen in her Grade 10 geography class.

The two are still close and came to the reunion together. Fryklund Yuen brought her husband and 16-month-old daughter to join in on the fun.

"I’m still friends with my best friends from high school," she said. "I liked Neelin. I always thought this was the best school."

Principal Michael Adamski was there, along with retired teacher Dave Ingles and Glenn Cockerline.

"It’s nice to see where they’ve all gone with their lives," Adamski said. "It’s a good excuse to pull everybody back together."
