Jim Murray wants to run for the NDP in Brandon West during the 2011 Manitoba provincial election. He announced his intentions at a press conference Wednesday afternoon.

Murray is currently chair of the Brandon School Division board, after winning re-election as a school trustee last fall.

The provincial election will be held Oct. 4, 2011.
