It’s Compost Days in the city of Brandon next week, and the city has some to give away.
On Wednesday, June 15 and Thursday, June 16, the city will be giving away compost from the southeast corner of the Keystone Centre. The giveaways take place from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.
There will be 10 yards of compost to give away each day. While burlap bags will be available, people are encouraged to bring their own bucket or pail.
It’s not just compost — free white spruce and poplar tree seedlings from “Trees for Tomorrow” will also be given away. There will be a limit of 5 per person.
Certified Master Composters will also be on site to give advice on backyard composting.
From Brandon Transit, one of the new buses with the bike rack on front will be on display and available for people to learn how to mount a bike on the bus. A bike donated by A & L Get Active will be there for testing the bike rack out, and people can also enter into a draw to win it.
