Three people have been arrested and police are looking for a fourth suspect after a break-in at the Valley Motor Lodge in Minnedosa early Monday morning. The motel’s owner managed to lock one of the suspects in the beer cooler before police arrived.
It’s believed that this break-in helped police locate a then-missing 13-year-old Minnedosa girl, who has since been found.
Officers from both Minnedosa and Neepawa RCMP were called to the motel at about 4:45 a.m. on Dec. 19. The owner of the Valley Motor Lodge had apparently heard a noise and, when he investigated, found two men inside the motel near the beer cooler.
After a short pushing match, one of the suspects was locked in the beer cooler. The other suspect apologized to the owner and fled. Nothing was stolen during the break-in.
A review of the security tape at the motel along with further investigation revealed that there were two other male suspects involved. Police have so far made three arrests, but are still searching for the fourth suspect.
Charged with break-and-enter are 21-year-old Jerry George Allan Rule, of Yorkton, Sask., 21-year-old David John Donald Switzer, of Shoal Lake, Man., and 20-year-old Darwin Scott Brazeau, of Brandon.
Rule and Brazeau remain in custody and will be appearing tomorrow in Brandon court. Switzer appeared in Minnedosa court today.
Police are still looking for 23-year-old Douglas Roman Joseph Daciuk of Brandon. He is described as a white male, with light brown hair and blue eyes. He is five-foot-six and weighs 148 pounds.
Anyone with information on the wherabouts of Douglas Daciuk is asked to contact Neepawa RCMP at (204) 476-7338 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
