The Brandon Sun wishes its readers a safe and happy New Year. Here is a list of holiday hours for important services:

 

Your newspaper

• The Brandon Sun will continue to publish according to its regular schedule.

City of Brandon

• City hall and the Civic Services Complex will be closed on Monday, Jan. 2 but will resume regular hours on Tuesday.

Transit

• New Year’s Eve: Regular buses will run for free from 6 p.m. on New Year’s Eve to 3 a.m. on New Year’s Day. Handi Transit will run on New Year’s Eve until midnight while the Information Centre will be closed at 7 p.m.

• New Year’s Day: There will be no bus service and the Information Centre and Transit Administration Office will be closed. Handi Transit will run from 9:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.

• Monday, Jan. 2: There will be no buses and the Information Centre and Transit Administration Office will be closed. Handi Transit will run from 9:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.

Travel

• Freight services and ticket sales at the Grey Goose-Greyhound bus depot will run according to Holiday hours throughout New Year’s Day and Eve. Call 727-0643 for specifics.

Liquor

• New Year’s Eve: All Liquor Marts will be open from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.

• New Year’s Day: All Liquor Marts will be closed.

• Rural Liquor Marts: Holiday hours vary. Check with your local Liquor Mart or visit liquormartsonline.com

Health

• New Year’s Eve: The Brandon Clinic, Western Medical Clinic (including its Superstore location) and Rosser Medical Group will be closed. However, the Brandon Clinic West is open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., the Newmount Medical and Trinity Medical clinics are open from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and the Wheat City Clinic is open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

• New Year’s Day: The Brandon Clinic, Brandon Clinic West, Western Medical Clinic, Rosser Medical Group, Newmount Medical Clinic, Trinity Medical Clinic and Wheat City Clinic are all closed.

• Monday, Jan. 2: The Brandon Clinic, Trinity Medical Clinic, Wheat City Clinic, Western Medical clinic (both locations) and the Rosser Medical Group are all closed. The Brandon Clinic West is open from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and the Newmount Medical Clinic is open from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m.

• The Brandon Clinic Pharmacy: Is open on New Year’s Eve from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and closed on New Year’s Day and Monday.

• Medical Centre Pharmacy: Is open 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on New Year’s Eve and closed for New Year’s Day and on Monday.

• Wheat City Pharmacy: Is open 10 a.m to 4 p.m. on New Year’s Eve and is closed New Year’s Day and Monday.

• Miller’s Pharmacy: Is open on New Year’s Day from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., is closed on New Year’s Day but open on Monday from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m.

Garbage

• There will be no garbage collection on Monday and Tuesday will be Day 2 of the garbage collection cycle.

• The Eastview Landfill Site and The Eco Centre for used oil, oil filters and oil container disposal is closed Sundays and on holidays.

Canada Post

• When a holiday falls on a Saturday or Sunday, it may be applied to the next business day. As such, Post Offices will be closed Jan. 2. However, post offices operated by the private sector will be open according to the hours of service of the host business.

Shopping

• Shoppers Mall is open New Year’s Eve from 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. but closed on New Year’s Day.

• Smitty’s Family Restaurant at the Shoppers Mall is open on New Year’s Eve from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and its lounge is open from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. For New Year’s Day the restaurant is open from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and the lounge is open from noon to 9 p.m.

Brandon Public Library

• The library is open New Year’s Eve from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. but it’s closed on Monday. Regular hours resume on Tuesday.
