Despite leaving Brandon out of cabinet in his latest shuffle, Premier Greg Selinger says that western Manitoba is well-served by having Brandon East MLA Drew Caldwell as a special assistant.
Caldwell has served as Selinger’s legislative assistant since 2009.
"The direct integration with my office that Drew’s position affords has served Brandon and western Manitoba very well," Selinger said in a press release issued this afternoon. "Drew and I have agreed this arrangement is working and should continue into the future."
Selinger also said that the province had been investing significantly into Brandon and the wider Westman region.
"Brandon and Westman are booming right now and our strong support of the region is a direct result of Drew’s hard work and advocacy," Selinger in a press release this afternoon. "Projects like the transformation of the Brandon Regional Health Centre and Assiniboine Community College would not have been possible without Drew. I look forward to continuing to work closely with him as we keep investing in the priorities of families living in this thriving region of our province."
Caldwell, who was travelling, couldn’t be immediately reached for comment, and was not quoted in the press released.
