Waiting in line at this year’s Lieutenant Governor’s Winter Festival might actually be a pleasant experience, at least the way the Environment Canada forecast is looking.
Clear and sunny skies are expected for the next few days, with warm temperatures that cool slightly next week.
Today will see a high of +2 C in the afternoon, and a low tonight of -12 C and some fog patches.
That fog, though, will dissipate early Saturday morning, burned off by more sun and another high of +2 C. A slight wind — about 20 km/h from the northwest — will come up in the evening, but it won’t get very cold. The overnight low is expected to be just -6 C.
Sunday will be the hottest day, with a high of +4 C, and more sun.
The sun will continue into next week, but temperatures will cool down a bit. Monday is expected to have a high of -5 C and a low of -13 C. Tuesday, the forecast calls for a high of -9 C and a low of -21 C.
The two-week trend, if you buy into forecasts that far into the future, is for above-seasonal temperatures to continue.
The normal high for this time of year is -10 C; the normal low is -20 C.
