MANITOBANS clicked their way to camping Monday morning, booking a record number of campground reservations online.
Monday was the first day people could reserve a spot in the province’s parks and camping destinations. By midday, 12,570 online booking had been made, up from 11,929 by the same time last year.
A total of 64,268 campsites were booked through the made-in-Manitoba reservation system last season.
Conservation and Water Stewardship Minister Gord Mackintosh also announced Monday his department will start reviewing ways to make the reservation system more convenient and accessible.
Most campgrounds open May 11. Northern campgrounds and, weather permitting, those along the lakes will open May 18, except Iskwasum Landing, slated to open May 25.
