A man with no driver’s license was drunk when he crashed an unlicensed vehicle into a pole in a Brandon park, police say.
It appears the vehicle, a white 1995 Chrysler, was headed east on Pacific Avenue at about 6:30 a.m. Sunday morning. But the driver apparently didn’t stop at First Street, where Pacific Avenue ends, and after running the intersection, the vehicle went into Errol Black Park, where it struck a pole.
Officers who responded to reports of the crash located the driver nearby, and say he appeared intoxicated. He was arrested and breath samples later showed an alcohol content more than double the legal limit.
A 20-year-old Brandon man is to appear in court on Sept. 27, on charges of impaired driving and several Highway Traffic Act offences.
