LITTLE Chucky is turning 25.
It seems like only yesterday he was going on his first murder spree.
Universal Studios announced the homicidal “Good Guy” doll that first appeared in the 1988 thriller Child’s Play will reappear this October in Curse of Chucky, the latest entry in the 25-year-old horror movie franchise.
Shot in Winnipeg in the fall of 2012, the movie debuts directly to DVD on Oct. 8 in time for Halloween.
The film was directed by Don Mancini, who scripted all five Child’s Play/Chucky movies prior to Curse of Chucky, and directed the penultimate 2004 instalment, Seed of Chucky.
Supplying the voice for Chucky is Brad Dourif, who appeared as both the voice of Chucky and as Charles Lee Ray, the serial killer who possessed the doll by means of voodoo in the original film. Dourif’s daughter, Fiona Dourif, plays Nica, a wheelchair-bound young woman victimized by the killer doll in this latest entry.
The $8-million thriller also stars A Martinez (Longmire), Danielle Bisutti and Brennan Elliott, and will be released in R-rated and unrated versions.
