The manager of a Brandon restaurant responded to an early-morning alarm today and managed to chase off a would-be burglar.

The alarm sounded a bit before 3 a.m. at the restaurant, which is in the 1600-block of Park Avenue. When the manager arrived, he found a man trying to pry open the front doors.

The suspect was described as slim, about 19 years old, and about six feet tall. He was thought to be wearing a checkered T-shirt and red shorts, and he fled from the area on a bike, headed north.

Police say he didn’t manage to get inside, but he did manage to damage the restaurant’s doors.

The attempted break-in is still under investigation.
