The Brandon YMCA’s 35th annual Spring Run will take place May 25 and will be sponsored by Koch Fertilizer.

“The YMCA Spring Run has taken place on the last Sunday of May for the past 34 years,” said Cindie Dunn, the YMCA of Brandon’s director of health and fitness.

“Through the years, the number of runners has grown to more than 600, with participants ranging in age from preschoolers to octogenarians,” she said. “This year we are proud to welcome one of Brandon’s premier companies, Koch Fertilizer Canada, ULC, as the lead sponsor for the event.”

Runners are off the starting line at the beginning of the 34th annual Y Spring Run, Sunday morning. The fundraising run attracted 608 athletes of all ages, sizes and abilities.

“Koch Fertilizer is pleased to support the YMCA’s Spring Run, one of the top events in the Brandon community,” said Lindsay Kaspick, managing director for Koch Fertilizer Canada. “This is a great family outing and always a fun time for all.”

Race registration is at ymcabrandon.com. Distances include a one-kilometre “fun run/walk,” five-kilometre walk, five-kilometre timed run, 10-kilometre walk or run, 15-kilometre run and 20-kilometre run.

New this year is a relay event — a two-person, 10-kilometre or four-person, five-kilometre.

For special school group pricing for groups of 10 and more, contact Dunn at 727-5456, ext. 110, or email cindie.dunn@ymcabrandon.com for details.

All runners will receive a finisher’s medal. There is also a grand prize draw for pledge collectors bringing in $75 and up. Prizes available are based on total pledges earned. All pledge money will go to the YMCA Strong Kids campaign.

Volunteers are needed — more than 100 helped with the run last year. If you are able to help out by volunteering this year, contact Dunn.

Again this year, the Prairie Pride Lions Club will be hosting a pre-race pasta dinner on May 24 at Prairie Oasis, next to the YMCA.
