Three country and country-rock bands are coming to put on a show at the Keystone Centre in Brandon.
The Road Hammers, Doc Walker and Blackjack Billy are touring together in a Bands on the Run tour, and will be stopping for a Brandon show on Dec. 3. They’ll play inside Westman Place at the Keystone.
Tickets for the show go on sale July 11. It’s put on by the Keystone Centre, CKLQ and the Brandon Sun.
The Road Hammers
The Road Hammers is a Canadian country music group that was originally formed as a side project. The trio’s music is influenced by 1960s and 1970s trucker music and Southern rock and their first self-titled album included remakes of several classic truck-driving songs. It was recognized with a Juno Award in 2006, along with numerous Canadian Country Music Association awards. They disbanded at the end of 2010, but re-formed last year with a new album.
Doc Walker
Doc Walker is a country music group from Portage La Prairie who have also won Canadian Country Music Awards and a Juno. They’ve had multiple hits, and are one of the most recognized Canadian country acts of the past two decades. Their new single dropped in March, ahead of an expected summer album release.
Blackjack Billy
Blackjack Billy is an American country rock group who describe their music as "Redneck Rock." Their debut single, "The Booze Cruise," was independently released in March 2013 and was quickly picked up on satellite radio. It’s was cited as the biggest-selling song on iTunes by any band without a major record deal in the first half of 2013. It reached gold status in Canada.
