The Brandon Sun’s new e-Edition launched on Monday, Oct. 27, as a replacement and improvement upon our previous Archives section.

Since the launch, however, some of our subscribers have had difficulties in accessing the new system. So, in the hopes of improving our customer experience, here’s a walk through to help ensure successful access.

Firstly, please note that all passwords used for the Archives page were reset. Since passwords are encrypted, there is no way for us to import them into the new system. Customers logging into the new e-Edition for the first time should use their email address as both the username and the password. You can change the password once successfully logged on.

The Brandon Sun will launch a new e-Edition and associated smartphone app on Monday, Oct. 27, 2014.

If you’re having trouble, it’s possible we have an old email address on file, or possibly no email address on file at all. A quick call to our circulation department will correct that.

Logging into our main website (brandonsun.com) has not changed at all. If you log into our main site regularly, please continue to use your existing email and password. The main website and the new e-Edition are separate products, like the website and Archives were before. We suggest that people use the same credentials for each to make it easier to remember.

For those with smartphones, we now have apps available for iOS (iPhone and iPad) and Android devices. Searching for “Brandon Sun” on your app store is the easiest way to find them. These apps use the same login credentials as the e-Edition does from a desktop computer. Again, please note that the app login may or may not be the same as the main website, but is absolutely the same as using the e-Edition on a desktop computer.

Functionality of our new e-Edition depends upon which device you use to view it. Please ensure you’re using the latest version of your web browser. The e-Edtion is compatible with all current versions of Firefox, Chrome, Safari and Internet Explorer 9 or higher.

The default view of the e-Edition is a small view of the entire page on the left hand side, and a table of contents on the right hand side. Clicking on an individual story or photo on the paper on the left hand side brings up an easy to read text view of that story on the right.

Above that are some icons to increase or decrease font size. Double-clicking on the left hand size increases the size of the paper so you can read it as it would look in print. You can navigate forwards and backwards one page at a time with the grey single arrows. The double arrows push you to the next or previous section.

The black menu bar on the right hand side has a few icons that perform various tasks. Clicking on “Pages” allows you to download individual pages at a time, or the complete edition as a PDF to your computer (desktop version only). The Options button allows you to view previous editions, change your password, and to log out. There is also a ? Help icon that goes over some basic functionality.

For desktop computer users, we also recommend updating your bookmark for the e-Edition site. You can follow the link from the top right-hand corner of our main website, brandonsun.com, next to the Advanced Search option above the search bar.

For customers who have any questions about the above, or anything else, please call circulation at 204-727-2451 or email circ@brandonsun.com. We will do our best to assist you promptly.
