RCMP made a “high-risk” arrest in Ethelbert following reports of a heavy police presence in the area on Thursday.

At around 9 a.m. Thursday, Dauphin RCMP Major Crimes Unit and an emergency response team converged on the area to arrest an RM of Ethelbert man who has threatened police officers, Mounties say.

Nobody was injured during the arrest.

Marc Dorais, 45, was arrested and charged with assault and forcible confinement in relation to a domestic assault. He is also charged with uttering threats.

The investigation continues. Dorais remains in custody. He will appear in Dauphin court on Monday.

Ethelbert is about 60 kilometres north of Dauphin.
