An unapologetic hockey player has been given a $500 fine as a penalty for breaching a curfew.

Police arrested Jason Charles Motheral-Crampain when they found him on the ice at the Sportsplex and informed him he was heading for jail.

“Oh well, at least I got three points tonight,” Motheral-Crampain told them.

Motheral-Crampain, 21, was originally arrested for an assault at a city bar on Oct. 19. He knocked out a woman who accused him of cheating on his girlfriend.

The unconscious woman had seizures on the way to hospital, where she came to after several hours. There were no lasting injuries, however.

He was released on conditions by police to appear in court on a later date. One of those conditions was a daily 10 p.m. to 7 a.m. curfew.

Police later got two separate complaints that Motheral-Crampain would regularly miss curfew to play hockey.

Officers went to the Sportsplex arena at 10:40 p.m. on Nov. 18 to find Motheral-Crampain during his scheduled ice time. There, they found him on the ice and arrested him.

Contrary to the reports, Motheral-Crampain told court that he had only ignored his curfew the one time.

Shortly after his arrest, he took to Facebook to defend himself. He said hockey helps him to blow off steam and clear his mind.

“Would you rather me at bars, or roaming the streets or causing a hassle or committing a real crime?” he wrote.

Motheral-Crampain pleaded guilty on Monday to assault causing bodily harm and breach of undertaking.

He was fined a total of $1,000 on both charges, and placed on probation for a year for the assault.
