Business owners revitalizing a long-standing motel near Clear Lake hope it will breathe new life into the area.
Since the 1930s, McTavish’s Motel has been part of the Wasagaming community, but after an extensive renovation, the old hotel will be transformed into the Lake House.
Near the shores of Clear Lake in the Wasagaming town site, the Lake House will offer a new experience for those looking for a place to stay.

“There’s some really beautiful things happening in Clear Lake already … but this will offer something that’s never been offered before,” managing owner Karly McRae said.
Extensive renovations to the exterior and interior of the building started about two weeks ago. Once the project is completed in May, the Lake House will house nine one-bedroom suites, six studio-style rooms, as well as a two-bedroom suite.
Reservations are already being accepted for this summer online at staylakehouse.ca.
“We’ve been really overwhelmed by the response,” McRae said. “We’ve had a lot of bookings and weekends are filling up really fast already.”
