Manitoba Labour and Immigration, the Manitoba Emergency Measures Organization and the Canadian Red Cross have set up a hotline for people looking to help the roughly 1500 Syrian refugees expected to arrive in Manitoba next month.
Refugees will be initially housed in Winnipeg, where more settlement services are available while other options are explored, according to a statement from the province.
Privately sponsored refugees will go to the community where their sponsor group is located such as Altona.
Information about donations or volunteering can be found by calling the toll-free number 1-888-662-3211 between 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. from Monday to Friday.
