The third day of the Royal Manitoba Fair is all about the families.
The highlight of the day at the Ag Action Stage in the Royal Farm Yard is the sheep shearing demonstration set for 2 p.m. Also on tap is The Science of SuperDogs show at 5:30 p.m., the mini chuckwagons at 1:30 p.m. and MacGregor’s Canadian Northern Lights Drill Team at 5 p.m.
The jumpers dominate the big ring at Westman Place in the morning, before giving way to the Heavy draft team, mini chucks, eight horse dance and barrel racers. The SuperDogs are set for a 2:30 p.m. show.
The nightly opening ceremonies, on at 6:30 p.m, will feature the dog/horse relay, ladies cart, Miss Piggy Scramble and six horse tandem.
It’s audition day for the Royal Rodeo during the Enbridge Royal Experience at Westman Place from 4 p.m. to 5 p.m. The pint-sized rodeo events include pole bending, bronc riding and roping.
The Pork Quality Competition and Luncheon is another can’t-miss. Two hundred tickets have already been sold, the lunch starts at 11 a.m.
The final high point on Credit Union Family Day, especially for the youngsters, is the Toopy & Binoo Musical Playdate show. The double bill will go at 1:30 p.m. and 4:30 p.m.in the Keystone Centre’s Amphitheatre. Later that evening is the Royal Fiddlers’ Contest, a “multi-generational toe-tapping good time” set for 7 p.m.
