Hey there, time traveller!

The Keystone Centre presents its unique Horse3 event today through Sunday in the Westoba Agricultural Centre of Excellence.
In its ninth year, Horse3 celebrates the power and wonder of the horse-human relationship through a weekend of equine-guided education and entertainment.
At Horse3, a multitude of equine disciplines are featured; fans attend clinics, demonstrations and entertainment, get the opportunity to Ride-with-the-Experts and shop the H3 Trade Show for all aspects of their horse-centric lives.
The NAERIC Trainer’s Challenge colt starting competition is a highlight of this distinctive event. Three clinicians take a young horse out of a supplied select herd and individually call upon their knowledge, skills and ability to quickly form understandings and relationships between horse and trainer.
This challenge showcases the unique connection between horse and human, which is something not to be missed. This year’s NAERIC Trainers Challenge competitors include Dale Clearwater, Jaquelene See and Steve Rother.
Dale Clearwater — In 2003, Dale and his wife Teri moved back to Saskatchewan to start up their own operation on what is now known as Justabouta Ranch. He has been successful in the cutting pen, but is more known for his success in the Reined Cowhorse Arena. More recently he competed in the trainers challenges at the Saskatchewan Equine Expo, Canadian Western Agribition and the Mane Event in Chilliwack, B.C. He loves to work with horses in the show pen, but also at home on the ranch with Teri and their two boys, Caleb and Westin. For more information, visit justaboutaranch.com.
Jaquelene See — Horses have always been a passion, and Jaquelene, who started riding when she was six years old, couldn’t get enough of it. It was always “just one more lap around the field,” which quickly turned into “just one more horse …” She is certified as an Equine Assisted Personal Development coach and is a Ken McNabb certified Master trainer. In 2013, she was judged Champion of the Rocking Heart Ranch Trainer’s Challenge and in 2015 participated in the two-day colt starting demo at The Horse Expo and Country Christmas Trade Show. With assistance from friends and family, she hosts the Shining Bank Trail Ride for the Cure, which raises money for cancer research.
Steve Rother — Steve Rother is an internationally acclaimed clinician, the 2014 winner of our Horse3 Trainer’s Challenge and a two-time winner of the Mane Event Trainer’s Challenge. Known as “The Horseteacher,” he has worked with more than 20,000 horse and riders over the last 20 years, conducting horsemanship clinics throughout the U.S. and Canada, as well as at his ranch, The School of Horse in Washington state. His Excel with Horses club and DVD series allow students to come together to achieve their horsemanship dreams through a levels program. For more info, visit Horseteacher.com and Rother Horsemanship on Facebook.
Returning this year is a long list of clinicians and lecturers offering classes in differing equine disciplines and skill
sets ranging from equine acupuncture to the gaited horse, vaulting, and even horse photography.
An extensive range of equine products and services made by equine enthusiasts for equine enthusiasts is available in the trade show area.
And back for a second year is the popular Trail Challenge in Barn 3, where you and your horse can try out a variety of obstacles and challenge your skills ($15 fee required).
On Saturday, “Evening of the Horse” at 7:30 p.m. features demonstrations, entertainment and a chance to mingle with the trainers, judges and clinicians of this year’s Horse3.
Tickets are available at tickets.keystonecentre.com, or by phone 204-726-3555. They will also be sold at the door.
