The inaugural flight from Brandon to Toronto’s Pearson International Airport was scheduled to leave McGill Field today at 5:15 a.m.
The limited edition eastbound service is scheduled four times weekly until Sept. 5, with the potential — depending on demand — that it could remain a permanent route.
The additional flights open opportunities for Brandon travellers to the east. WestJet Encore has offered daily flights from Brandon to Calgary International Airport since 2013.
Unlike the Calgary flights, which use a turboprop plane, the Brandon-Toronto route will be flown by the much larger, jet-engined Boeing 737-600s and 700s.
