The Brandon Sun has learned that two men were taken into custody in relation to a major drug investigation by the Brandon Police Service and other police agencies.

Reportedly, the months-long investigation may involve the large-scale transport of illegal drugs from the Toronto area to the Brandon region for distribution, but that hasn’t been confirmed by police.

Police including members of the BPS Tactical Response Unit moved in on a farm near Griswold early Thursday afternoon. Two men were arrested at the farm, believed to be a local man and a man from Toronto.

While two men were taken into custody, there’s no indication at this point whether they have been formally charged.

The Southwest Post reported that police remained on the scene on Friday. Witnesses saw police removing items from buildings on the property, and officers were seen searching the brush.

It’s believed that the operation involved the BPS, RCMP and members of the Winnipeg Police Service.

It’s not clear at this point whether any drugs were found at the farm.

The investigation is developing, and this story will be updated as more information is available.
