Two collisions on Friday night, which occurred within an 80-kilometre stretch of the Trans-Canada Highway, claimed the life of three Westman residents.

RCMP confirmed late Saturday night that a second fatal crash, which killed a 27-year-old Brandon man, happened on the same highway.

At approximately 9:20 p.m. Friday, Brandon RCMP responded to a two-vehicle collision in the RM of Cornwallis. They say a westbound pickup truck struck the back of a semi-trailer that turned into the westbound lane from Road 101 West.

The lone occupant in the pickup truck died in the crash. The semi driver, a 45-year-old man from Newdale, was not hurt.

More than an hour earlier, two men from MacGregor died a kilometre east of their community when a minivan and a truck driving the wrong way collided.

In each crash, police say the drivers wore seatbelts and that alcohol was not a factor. The RCMP’s investigation into these collisions is ongoing.
