Brandon-based Genesis Hospitality has entered into an agreement with Choice Hotels Canada to franchise the Royal Oak Inn & Suites under the name Clarion Hotel & Suites beginning March 1, 2017.

Ownership and management of the property will be retained by Genesis Hospitality, which operates 10 hotels across Canada, and it will be business as usual for management and nearly 150 employees at the hotel.

The change to Clarion will not affect the current operation of Echo Restaurant or Houstons nightclub, which are both part of the current operation at the hotel.

The Royal Oak has undergone recent improvements and renovations to its standard rooms over the past two years, and will continue these renovations to meet the standards of the Clarion brand as outlined in the agreement.

“Genesis is ecstatic to join the Choice and Clarion hotel family. We have been working diligently over the past two years in order to reposition the hotel. As well, we are looking forward to growing our online presence, and welcoming their 1.5 million Choice Privileges members to stay with us,” Genesis Hospitality executive vice-president Kevin Swark said.
